The prize machine is essentially a virtual gum ball machine that let’s you unlock a variety of different characters with which to play the game. Scattered throughout the levels are gold coins that you collect for every hundred coins you get to play the prize machine. In short, the game is an endless version of Frogger. The object of Crossy Road is simple: you control a character (a chicken in the beginning) and have to navigate it across an endless world of cars, trains, and logs. There’s a combination of factors that turned me onto the game when it first came out with the biggest two being the monetization style of the game and the retro style graphics that have been brought into an isometric 3D world. Since the game first launched in 2014 it has consistently been one of my most played games on my iPhone. There hasn’t been a time in my life where I haven’t loved Crossy Road.
